Supporting our local community and its activities is a top priority for the Vera Earl Ranch. Through the years, we have been extensively involved in helping the youth in our community by sponsoring youth soccer and baseball, as well as being actively involved in 4-H and FFA programs. Every year, we attend the livestock auctions and are stalwart buyers of the youths’ animals. Oftentimes, we donate the animals back to be auctioned again for the 4-H Scholarship Fund. Additionally, we support the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center, the Santa Cruz County Fair and Rodeo Association, and the Mountain Empire Rotary Club, which in turn gives back to our local schools.
Partnering with the Los Charros Foundation has been, and continues to be, one of our proudest endeavors. Ian Tomlinson is a founding Board Member of Los Charros and has been involved since its inception in 2015. Founded to generously support youth in rural communities in Southern Arizona, the Foundation awards between $50,000 to $100,000 in scholarships every year to students from Santa Cruz, Pima, and Cochise counties. Recipients can use these funds for university, community college, trade/vocational school, or apprenticeships in any discipline of their choosing. Ian and his wife, Kristin Tomlinson, strongly believe in the mission of the Foundation and host an annual dinner, dance, and auction on the ranch to fundraise for the scholarship fund.
Our rural youth are one of our country’s greatest assets, and we firmly believe in investing in their futures. At our core, we hope that by providing the children in our community with opportunities in education and training, they will in turn become generous and engaged supporters of their own communities, helping to carry on and be leaders in agriculture and other industries.
